Abstract

April 25, 2023 marks the 70th anniversary of the first publications on the structure of DNA: James Watson, Francis Crick, Maurice Wilkins, Rosalind Franklin and colleagues published papers in the scientific journal Nature describing the structure of DNA. This discovery made a revolution in biological science, initiated new directions – molecular biology and molecular genetics, and became the basis for further discoveries that affected not only science, but also modern life in general. The events and research of scientists are described, without which the creation of the Watson-Crick model of the secondary structure of DNA would have been impossible.
