Cytogenetic characteristics of collection of curly birch clones long-term cultivated in vitro
Abstract
Aims. Studying of cytogenetic stability of long-term cultivated curly birch clones. Methods. Cytogenetic characteristic have included frequency of mitotic abnormalities and mixoploidy level. Results. Clones cultivated on hormone-free medium for over 14-20 years conserved their cytogenetic and morphological characteristics both in normal clones and in mutants. Conclusions. Long-term cultivation on hormone-free medium is an effective method for conservation of valuable genofond of curly birch.
