Especially frost- and winter-resistant on the winter durum wheat
Abstract
Aims. The set of 79 winter durum wheat varieties was studied under different periods of artificial vernalization and subseguent growing under long and short photoperiods. Methods. The study revealed a significant difference between these varieties in vernalization response and degree of photosensitivity. Results. Modern varieties possessed low and medium photosensitivity, and had vernalization duration of 20 to25 days. Conclusions. The best winter durum wheat varieties by adaptivity to unfavourable winter conditions need vernalization duration of 25–30 days and high degree of photoperiodic sensitivity.
