Inheritance paradigms and their role in development of innovative plant breeding technologies
Abstract
Aim. To show increasing role of epigenetic paradigm for development of new notions about heredity and variability of organisms and its significance for creating new breeding technologies. Methods. Analysis of history paradigms changing in notions about heredity. Description and analysis of new important phenomenon of epigenetic organization of quantitative characters, change in spectrum of genes under the same character upon change in the limiting factor of environment. Results. New knowledge of nature of eco-genetic “construction” of productivity components allows to predict the effects of genotype-environment interaction, appearance of transgressions, ecologically dependent heterosis, displacements of dominance for quantitative characters, sings and levels of genotypical correlations and other characteristics necessary for fast and effective constructing of new varieties with high productivity, steadiness and quality.
Key words: paradigms of heredity, eco-genetic nature of quantitative characters.
