The II International Conference
“Drosophila in Experimental Genetics and Biology”
September 6–10, 2010

Dear colleagues!

Those who would like to participate in the conference should e-mail us (genetics2010@yandex.ru) an article (paper) by May 15, 2010. The paper should be written according to the following rules.

We accept:
original works that have not been published before (up to 4 pages of printed text);
descriptions of original methods and devises.

The article should be written in English, in Russian or Ukrainian.

Text preparation tips

The article should consist of the following parts: “Introduction”, “Methods” (Research objects and methods), “Results and Discussion”, “References”. The title should be concise, informative, and reflect the paper contents as accurately as possible.

Short (up to 5 lines) annotation in the original paper language should be placed right under the headline. Annotation should reflect the essence of experiments, key results and their interpretation. Keywords (up to 10 words) should be listed in italics below the annotation.

“Introduction” should contain the general outline of the topic and its connection with important scientific theoretical and/or practical problems; a short analysis of recent research and publications where the problem was initially addressed; the concrete unresolved questions the article is centered around should be pointed out and objectives of the study should be formulated.

“Methods” should contain information about the study object/objects. Indication of the full species Latin names and classification authors is mandatory. The part should also contain a description of the experimental conditions, analytical methods, devises and reagents used. Information on the number of experimental trials and statistical analyses employed should be given in this part as well.

In the part “Results and discussion”, a description of effects revealed should be presented (do not confine the results statements to a mere description of the tables and diagrams, it should reflect the patterns resulting from the data obtained). In this part, general conclusions and interpretation of results, as well as causative relations between the effects obtained, should be discussed. The discussion should be finished with an answer to the question raised in “Introduction”.

Tables should be embedded in text. Each table should have a caption. Figures should be coloured or black-and-white. Each figure should have a caption. Curves (except continuous registrations) should appear with the experimental points.

References should be given in text in round brackets and include the first author’s last name and the year of publication: ex., (Smith, 2007). The list of references should be ordered alphabetically without numbering as follows:

At the end of the article, a Summary in Russian or Ukrainian (for papers written in English) with the transliteration of authors` names, translation of the title and keywords should be written.

Manuscript design

The paper should begin with the title. In the next line, authors` initials and last names should be placed. Below appear the titles of scientific organizations, as well as mailing addresses. Please, avoid font and register changes. Use Ms Word 97 or higher and Times New Roman 14 pt font. Indent 1 cm. Line spacing should be 1 (single), and all margins should be 2 cm.
